About Bitsacco
Empowering communities through Bitcoin financial education and tooling
Bitsacco is a community-focused platform that provides education and tools to make bitcoin accessible to communities through familiar financial structures.
In 2025, we started off with the aim of bringing bitcoin to Kenyans through the Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCO) model. This is a familiar financial model in Kenya with over 6.8 million Kenyans who are actively saving in SACCOs.
After a year of running our community as a young SACCO, we have realized this approach continuously requires our members to ask permission to hold and manage their wealth in Bitcoin – which is not the path we envisioned. We deeply believe in the power of our members always having direct control of their finances and their future.
Bitsacco is evolving. We're moving beyond our initial attempt to build a traditional savings and credit cooperative, leaning back on simpler community-first education and financial tools.
Our Mission: To make Bitcoin accessible and familiar to every member of our community, using simple, intuitive tools that seamlessly integrate into existing community structures.
While our initial implementation was rooted in Kenya, the vision of Bitsacco has always been global. Our new community-first model is designed to serve a global audience, bringing familiar, Bitcoin-powered financial tools to communities worldwide.
